Our Story

We just love Hungarian goodies

Our history dates back to 1976 when Rose Heimann opened her store, Andre's Bakery, in Forest Hills, Queens. Thus she set about selling her soon-to-be famous hand-made pastries.

In 1979, Rose's son Andre — also a native Hungarian — entered the business, which expanded to three locations in the city of New York. Through the years, some things have never changed. Most important, everything we bake is handmade, and we use only the best quality of ingredients with no preservatives. We peel the apples and make our own dough, just like grandma Rose used to.

"Think of it as old world tradition for a new generation."

All of our experienced bakers have been trained one-on-one by Andre himself.
